Yes, I saw a bright orange object in the sky in the Port Moody, BC area yesterday, January 6, 2013 at around 8:20 p.m. My child pointed and said, "moon", but it was obviously smaller, so I suggested a "plane" instead.
Then realized that plane's lights are flashing and smaller and whiter in colour. The orange one was very bright and large. It was drizzling and it was too cloudy for any star.
Even the planes do not fly that low. I was quite puzzled!
A ball lightning? Meanwhile, the object went seemingly smaller in size and within a minute or so, it disappeared, making a last twinkle before gone to invisible.
I studies some astrophysics at university, but could not think of an appropriate description or definition of the process. Some burning of some star, but again, with those low clouds yesterday, what could have passes into even a lower level?
Thanks for reading this. I hope to find out one day.
