Time: Evening.
Hi, I live in Courtenay, on the Island. Not sure what the hell it was, but about an hour ago I was out having a smoke and I saw a white light sort of "strobe" twice then shrunk.
It went straight up, not quick, but fast enough. Don't know if you get these sightings often out here, but I thought I would drop a line. Could have been a shooting star, but it was enough to keep me sitting there for about a minute or so.

Sorry, forgot to mention, it was like a ball. Probably above the mountains, wasn't an airplane because when it dimmed out, it did so in the exact same spot. I don't know airplanes that can make a 180 in that short of space.
It wasn't flying off into the horizon because it went up, not down. And it didn't fly overhead of us, so I figured it went straight up. I have never reported a UFO before, but this had my scratching my head.
